The Role: As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering electrical engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept development and bid support through to detailed design, installation and commissioning. Working alongside Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers and multidisciplinary project teams, you will support the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of electrical engineering designs and technical solutions.
  • Support projects from concept design through to commissioning.
  • Produce and review technical specifications, calculations, reports and design documentation.
  • Support systems engineering activities and requirement capture.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, regulations and quality requirements.
  • Review and check engineering deliverables produced by junior engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators and key project stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, cost estimation and risk management activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and internal relationships.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience within nuclear, power generation, utilities, defence, oil & gas or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of high‑voltage electrical systems, including:
    • 11kV switchboards
    • Generator circuit breakers
    • Insulated phase busducts
    • Power transformers (up to 600MVA)
    • 400kV grid connections and switchgear
    • National Grid interfaces and Grid Code requirements
  • Experience producing HV specifications, datasheets and drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical system studies and analysis (ETAP desirable).
  • Understanding of relevant standards including IEC, IEEE and BS standards.
  • Experience producing high‑quality technical documentation and engineering deliverables.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
