Profile
To manufacture aircraft components from composite materials which meet design and engineering requirements.
Key Deliverables
- Manufacture aircraft components from carbon and glass fibre pre‑preg materials
- Use processing equipment to lay‑up and cure composite wing spars and test pieces
- Use forming presses, drape machines, vacuum presses, automated tape lay and fibre placement machines, laser projection equipment, autoclaves and ovens to manufacture and cure composite spars
- Prepare and clean mandrels and cure tooling for manufacture of composite spars
- Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities
- Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements
Qualifications
- Experience of assembling and manufacturing production components using drawings and processes
- Experience in a manual handling work environment
Key Skills
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances
- Good hand skills and coordination
- Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
- Knowledge of composite bonding and assembly techniques using pre‑preg materials
- Ability to operate CNC machines and processes
- Self‑motivation with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both alone and in small teams
- Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes
- To take responsibility to “self‑certify” own work
- Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages
