Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Technician / Technologist to join a well‑established, Cardiff‑based architectural studio. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical expertise, proven project delivery experience, and the ability to lead small teams while managing multiple projects concurrently. Key Responsibilities
- Project & Technical Leadership
- Take a lead role in delivering multiple or complex projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
- Develop and manage technical design packages, full specifications, and construction information.
- Coordinate and integrate design and production information, ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and professional requirements.
- Demonstrate lateral thinking and flexibility in responding to complex technical and design challenges.
- Team Leadership & Studio Contribution
- Lead and manage small project teams, clearly delegating tasks to less experienced team members.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff, actively sharing technical knowledge and best practice across the studio.
- Manage personal workload alongside team supervision and project responsibilities.
- Report to the Regional Director and contribute to the effective running of the studio.
- Client & Consultant Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing confident technical input at any stage of the project lifecycle, often with minimal briefing.
- Act as a key technical point of contact for internal teams, external consultants, and contractors.
- Coordinate effectively with other professional consultants across disciplines.
- Commercial & Business Responsibilities
- Manage project fees, budgets, and invoicing (with administrative support).
- Monitor project financial performance and contribute to profitability.
- Support the practice in winning new work, contributing to bids and proposals as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering large and/or complex architectural projects, often running multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to take a project brief and develop initial proposals through to detailed technical design.
- Strong experience managing and coordinating design teams and associated professional consultants.
- Expertise in producing, analysing, and advising on technical specifications, material selection, and detailed design solutions aligned with performance and production criteria.
- Ability to evaluate and advise on refurbishment, repair, reuse, recycling, and deconstruction of buildings.
- Experience monitoring and managing the financial performance of projects.
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies, technical detailing, and work package information.
- Working knowledge of Revit.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.

- Healthcare project experience.
- Advising clients on procurement routes and forms of contract.
- Assessing and prioritising client and end‑user needs and agreeing project briefs.
- Developing innovative technical and design solutions through research and problem‑solving.
