A leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock Industry is recruiting for Electrically biased Fitters to work on a new project based at their depot in Widnes, Cheshire. This project is starting asap, initially until August 2026 with opportunities for extension. Working Monday to Friday, hours are 07:00-16:30, working 45 hours per week. Pay rates start from £26.78 (Umbrella) per hour for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £27.50 (Umbrella) per hour thereafter following qualification under AWR. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a retention bonus payable on completion of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read wiring installation drawings
- Experience in carrying out major electrical duties on rolling stock (ideal but would consider experience from other industries including automotive and aircraft)
- Will also have mechanical experience
- Must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplined team
Key Skills and Requirements:
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications (ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent
- Electrical bias is essential for this position
- Key experience of interior vehicle refurb of trains, planes and cars/coaches
- Experience of removing seats/refit of panels etc
- Experience of taking things apart and putting them back together
- Level 3 minimum Electrical Qualification
- Written & communication skills
- Team worker and self‑motivated
