As Design Manager you will lead multidisciplinary design delivery for water, wastewater and utilities infrastructure projects. You will own projects through their lifecycle, coordinating civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical and ICA disciplines with clients and stakeholders. You’ll steer scope, milestones, budgets and risk, ensuring safe-by-design outputs and quality governance. This is a hands-on leadership role with client-facing responsibilities and a clear path toward senior design or programme leadership.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage design projects from initiation to closeout
- Define scope, deliverables, milestones, and programmes with technical and commercial teams
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to deliver integrated, buildable outputs on time
- Monitor budgets, costs, forecasts, and resource needs
- Identify and manage delivery, commercial and technical risks and opportunities
- Lead client meetings, design reviews and progress updates
- Develop strong relationships with clients and delivery teams
- Promote CDM 2015 compliance and quality governance
- Provide clear direction to project teams and drive continuous improvement
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction, project management or related discipline
- Typically 3–7 years of project or design-delivery experience in engineering, infrastructure or construction
- Understanding of programme, cost, risk, resource and stakeholder management
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects to deadlines
- Strong communication, organization and leadership skills
