Overview
In this role, you will support essential tunnel works during Sandilands Tunnel blockade, applying carpentry or bricklaying skills in a demanding civil engineering environment. You will join a dedicated crew focused on rail infrastructure projects and tunnel safety, contributing to waterproofing, GRP walkway installation, brickwork repairs, and other civils tasks. The position requires long shifts (12 hours) across a 24/7 blockade window, with safety and reliability as core expectations. This opportunity offers hands-on work on high-profile civil works with a strong safety culture and rail experience needed.
Responsibilities
- Waterproofing works in tunnel environments
- UTX construction
- GRP walkway installation
- Guttering and downpipe installation
- Brickwork repairs and pointing
- General civils and remedial works
- Vegetation clearance and site works
- Carpenter/Joiner duties including temporary works and installation activities
- Collaborate with site teams during 24/7 blockade period
Key requirements
- Relevant trade experience
- Valid Pink Ticket for the tram network
- Rail, tram, tunnel or civil engineering experience preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including days and nights
- Availability to work throughout the full blockade period
- Strong commitment to safe working practices
- Relevant trade qualifications/tickets where applicable
