Morson Edge are looking for a Maintenance Planning Engineer to join a leading aviation organisation, supporting the planning and coordination of aircraft maintenance activities within a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO).
This role is responsible for ensuring maintenance is planned efficiently, regulatory requirements are met, and aircraft are maintained in accordance with approved maintenance programmes to support safe and effective operations.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for managing aircraft maintenance and materials planning activities, producing line and base maintenance work packs, reviewing completed maintenance documentation prior to aircraft release, and ensuring maintenance records are accurately updated within the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
Working closely with Maintenance, Airworthiness, Engineering and Customer Support teams, you will play a key role in ensuring aircraft availability, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage aircraft maintenance planning activities in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Maintenance and other departments to ensure a clear understanding of maintenance capability and capacity.
- Enter aircraft technical log utilisation data into the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
- Monitor the maintenance status of allocated aircraft to ensure compliance with approved maintenance programmes.
- Prepare and review maintenance variations where required.
- Forecast maintenance requirements based on aircraft utilisation and maintain the internal maintenance planning schedule.
- Review material requirements against planned maintenance inputs.
- Raise material reservations and purchase requisitions as required.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with Customer Support Managers and aircraft owners/operators.
- Liaise with the Airworthiness Department to ensure Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Engineering Orders (EOs) and other mandatory requirements are incorporated as required.
- Produce scheduled maintenance work packs, ensuring all required documentation and materials are available.
- Review work packs to optimise maintenance efficiency and minimise aircraft downtime.
- Verify that all planned maintenance has been completed before aircraft release from Base Maintenance.
- Produce and distribute short-term maintenance forecasts for allocated aircraft.
- Update and reset maintenance tasks within the MIS following maintenance completion.
- Provide cross-functional support across the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within Maintenance Planning and Airworthiness processes.
- Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Maintenance Planning Supervisor or Continuing Airworthiness Manager.
- Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Good understanding of aircraft maintenance planning and material planning within a Part CAMO and Part 145 environment.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible approach with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to identify issues before they affect operations.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable
- Experience using Continuing Airworthiness Management software.
- Knowledge of helicopter maintenance planning and technical documentation.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum of five GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above) or equivalent qualifications (e. g. NVQ or BTEC).
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an aviation-related discipline.
- Aviation Human Factors training.
- Recognised Part CAMO training.
- Recognised Part 145 training.
- Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain DBS and UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Must meet applicable UK Export Control requirements.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
