We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a site-based team at Porton Down.

Role Details

  • Location: Onsite - Porton Down
  • Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 08:00 - 16:30 (8 hours per day)
  • Contract Length: Initially until the end of June, with a strong expectation of extension through to 31 December 2026
  • Rate: £30-£38 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive building services maintenance across the site, with a strong focus on:

  • Plumbing maintenance and repairs
  • Toilet and tap repairs
  • Reactive maintenance including unblocking toilets
  • General mechanical building services support

Additional experience in the following areas would be highly desirable:

  • AHU (Air Handling Unit) maintenance
  • Pipework repairs
  • Steam systems maintenance

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' mechanical maintenance experience
  • Strong background in building services maintenance
  • Comfortable carrying out reactive plumbing works
  • Reliable and able to work consistently onsite
  • Clear DBS preferred due to site clearance requirements
  • Candidates able to commit long-term are highly desirable, as onsite training will be provided and continuity is beneficial
