Overview
In this role you will contribute to delivering electrical projects at Sizewell B within our nuclear and power portfolio.
You will work in a client-led, safety-critical environment, supported by experienced mentors, to grow technical, project management and leadership capabilities.
You’ll manage documentation, design reviews and commissioning activities, influencing outcomes on complex electrical systems.
This position offers meaningful impact on asset integrity, safety compliance and project delivery at a high-stakes site.
Responsibilities
- Produce, review and maintain electrical engineering documentation (quality plans, specifications, calculations, schedules)
- Manage electrical technical queries per procedures
- Assist in supplier selection, tender reviews and contract placement
- Review electrical contractor documentation, drawings and calculations (CAD Mech models)
- Develop and assess electrical design options and conduct feasibility studies
- Conduct site surveys and liaise with designers and station teams
- Prepare engineering change documentation and update related drawings/documents
- Create and review commissioning/test documentation and lead as test team where applicable
- Support Project Manager/Construction Manager to deliver works safely, on schedule and to spec
- Key requirements
- Typically Chartered Engineer (CEng) or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering
- SMSTS qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Formal project management qualification desirable
- Proven experience with safety, environmental and quality standards and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of CDM regulations for construction projects
- Experience in electrical power systems design/installation (LV/HV, substations, switchgear, protection)
- Experience with CAD Mech (reviewing/interrogating electrical models and drawings)
- Ideally experience with National Grid, DNOs or large-scale distribution systems
- Strong communication, coordination and organisational skills
- Previous work at power stations or nuclear licensed sites preferred but not essential
