This is a stakeholder engagement role within ScottishPower Renewables, responsible for managing relationships with communities, local authorities, government bodies and industry stakeholders throughout the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will develop and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies that support planning consent, strengthen community relationships, and help achieve the organisation's strategic objectives. The role also involves leading community consultation activity, representing projects at public events, and managing community benefit agreements and investment programmes that deliver long-term value to local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies for renewable energy projects from development through to operation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including communities, local authorities, government organisations and industry groups.
  • Lead public consultations, stakeholder events, public information days and inquiries.
  • Support planning and consenting activities by ensuring engagement aligns with relevant policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary relationship manager for communities associated with operational projects.
  • Negotiate and manage community benefit agreements and investment initiatives, ensuring funding supports both community and business objectives.
  • Provide stakeholder engagement advice and guidance to project teams.

Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as Public Relations, Communications or Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Significant experience within the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven background in stakeholder engagement, community relations, public affairs or project liaison roles.
  • Experience developing and delivering successful stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Understanding of the renewable energy project lifecycle, including planning and consenting processes.
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation abilities.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
