Morson Edge is supporting a major defence programme in the recruitment of a Mechanical Technician (B3T) to support Early Rectification maintenance operations at RAF Valley. This role will involve carrying out detailed aircraft maintenance and rectification activities within a dynamic operational environment, ensuring aircraft are maintained, prepared, and available to meet daily operational requirements. The successful candidate will undertake maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and components, working independently to approved technical data while supporting less experienced team members where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and aircraft components
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, modifications, and fault rectification activities
  • Support component removals, replacements, and functional/system testing
  • Analyse and diagnose faults on aircraft systems and assemblies
  • Apply diagnostic knowledge to support repairs and maintenance improvements
  • Ensure maintenance activities are completed in line with operational schedules
  • Escalate technical or maintenance issues where required
  • Maintain personal task competencies and approved authorisations
  • Support compliance activities including tooling and test equipment control
  • Maintain personal logbook for currency and recency requirements
  • Demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach within an operational maintenance environment

Requirements

  • Previous aircraft maintenance experience within an operational aviation environment
  • Strong understanding of approved technical information and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to analyse and diagnose faults across aircraft systems and components
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally Aeronautical or recognised military equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical discipline
  • Trade Principles training
  • Aircraft platform training relevant to the role
