Role Overview
We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Manchester office and work as part of an experienced, collaborative structural engineering team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of structural design projects across the industrial, residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. The role requires the candidate to undertake structural design while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce structural designs for a wide range of sectors including industrial, residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, design specifications, site surveys, and construction details.
- Design structural elements using steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with current British Standards, Eurocodes and industry best practice.
- Support projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction.
- Ensure designs are technically compliant, practical and commercially efficient.
- Utilise structural analysis and design software such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer & Masterseries to develop engineering solutions.
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Coordinate structural designs with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
- Provide technical support during construction, responding to design queries and reviewing engineering solutions where required.
- Assist in delivering projects on time and to client expectations.
- Undertake sustainability assessments for building constructions.
Project Portfolio

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Liaise with internal engineering teams, external consultants, contractors and clients.
- Attend project meetings and design reviews.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and engineering reports.
- Attend site visits to undertake structural surveys and inspect ongoing works during the construction phase.
- Build positive working relationships across multidisciplinary project teams.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Produce designs that comply with relevant legislation, British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Undertake design risk assessments and incorporate safe-by-design principles.
- Support compliance with CDM Regulations and company quality procedures.
- Promote safe engineering practices throughout the design process.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
- Experience designing steel and reinforced concrete structures.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
- Experience delivering industrial and residential projects.
- Excellent technical design and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and report writing abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (BEng/MEng).
- Experience working within a structural engineering consultancy or design environment (minimum 3 years).
- Experience delivering structural designs using steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
- Experience across industrial, residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IStructE or ICE is advantageous.
- Experience using industry-standard structural engineering software.
