The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site activities relating to water rehabilitation projects across the United Utilities network, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This role involves managing multiple work sites, supervising operatives and subcontractors, planning resources, and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, local authorities and customers. The Site Manager plays a key role in ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day delivery of water rehabilitation projects across multiple sites.
- Lead and supervise site teams, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
- Plan labour, plant, materials and resources to meet project requirements.
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with client and company standards.
- Ensure all Health & Safety documentation is completed and maintained, including RAMS, CPPs and site files.
- Deliver toolbox talks, site briefings and safety communications.
- Monitor productivity and ensure contract KPIs and service levels are achieved.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, customers and third parties throughout project delivery.
- Identify and manage operational risks, resolving issues quickly to minimise disruption.
- Investigate incidents and support continuous improvements in safety and performance.
- Coach and support site teams to drive high performance and maintain safe working practices.
- SSSTS or SMSTS.
- NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
A recognised qualification in construction, civil engineering or a related discipline is advantageous. Ongoing professional development within the utilities or civil engineering sector is desirable.
Experience- Previous experience managing water rehabilitation, clean water or utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of Streetworks and utility operations.
- Proven ability to deliver works safely, on programme and within budget.
- Experience working within a live utility environment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, local authorities and customers.
