Morson Group is proud to support fundraising for the incredible children’s charity, Destination Florida Children’s Charity. Every year, the team at Destination Florida Children’s Charity work tirelessly to raise funds to take 75 exceptional children facing significant challenges to experience a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Florida. Morson’s Executive Chairman Ged Mason OBE is the Chairman of the charity and as a group we wholeheartedly support the ongoing projects and initiatives that they run. We are delighted to be able to support them with hiring an Events Specialist to work directly with the charity.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Office Manager and working closely with volunteers, supporters, trustees, and external partners, the Events and Social Media Specialist will be responsible for delivering engaging marketing and communications activity across all platforms. The role will support the planning, promotion, and delivery of fundraising and community events across the UK.

You will create compelling, high-quality content that inspires people to support Destination Florida’s mission, strengthens the charity’s brand, and clearly demonstrates the impact of its work. This is a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s public profile, increasing engagement online and offline, and ensuring that events and campaigns are well promoted, well attended, and successful. This is a full-time position, 35 hours a week across 5 days in the Office located at The Sharp Project in Manchester.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Communications
    • Maintain and manage the Destination Florida website, ensuring content is current, engaging, and aligned with organisational objectives.
    • Develop, implement, and deliver a social media strategy to grow brand awareness, engagement, and supporter base.
    • Create and schedule high-quality digital content across all social media platforms, monitoring performance and using insight to inform continuous improvement.
    • Plan and deliver online awareness and profile-raising campaigns to support fundraising and engagement objectives.
    • Develop a range of supporter and donor resources, including newsletters, sponsorship packages, shopping lists, and thank-you communications.
    • Produce clear, consistent messaging and bespoke presentations to recruit new supporters and engage, motivate, and thank existing volunteers and donors.
    • Build and maintain relationships with local media to secure promotional coverage, partnerships, and campaign opportunities.
  • Events and Fundraising
    • Support the planning, promotion, and delivery of Destination Florida fundraising and community events, including on-the-day support.
    • Create event-specific marketing campaigns, materials, and supporter communications to maximise attendance, engagement, and fundraising.
    • Generate strong social media coverage before, during, and after events to increase reach and impact.
    • Participate as part of a coordinating team during Florida trips to ensure their smooth delivery and success.
  • Supporting the Wider Organisation
    • Attend and represent Destination Florida at internal and external events to raise awareness and grow networks.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, trustees, volunteers, and partners to maximise skills, contacts, and opportunities.
    • Undertake additional reasonable duties as requested by the trustees in line with the needs of the charity.
    • Be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and supporter engagement; Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) will be provided.

Role Requirements

  • Experience and Knowledge
    • Proven experience in an events-focused role incorporating both traditional and digital marketing responsibilities.
    • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering marketing or social media strategies.
    • Strong understanding of digital platforms and tools used to create engaging content.
    • Experience of targeted marketing to a range of audiences.
    • Proven experience of delivering excellent customer or account management.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to network, motivate, and inspire individuals at all levels.
    • Ability to establish credibility and trust through professional, open, and respectful conduct.
    • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
    • Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to different audiences.
