Overview
In this role you will lead marine coordination for offshore wind operations, ensuring safe, efficient transfer of personnel and equipment by sea and air. You will oversee a team of Duty Marine Coordinators, manage vessel usage to minimise downtime, and ensure compliance with HSE, regulatory and project requirements. You will collaborate with onshore and offshore stakeholders to protect project interests and support windfarm activities. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on safety, operational efficiency, and incident readiness.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and supervise personnel/equipment transfers by vessels/helicopters for safe, efficient operations
- Manage work control via the Authority to Work system and secure permits for planned ops
- Prepare Notices to Mariners, Weekly Notices of Operations and H102s for approval
- Plan work schedules to optimise use of personnel and transfer assets
- Make go/no-go decisions based on weather and sea conditions
- Ensure marine training/inductions are completed before offshore transfers
- Initiate and support the Emergency Response Plan as needed
- Liaise with ABP Lowestoft on daily operations
- Maintain HSE adherence for maritime/offshore work
- Lead 24/7 Duty Marine Coordinators coverage and update rosters
- Monitor vessel utilisation to minimise downtime and track movements offshore
- Coordinate marine traffic on site and transfers between site and main port
- Ensure personnel offshore are qualified and certified
- Support incident reporting and daily/weekly/monthly reporting
- Chair or participate in coordination meetings and manage interfaces with contractors
- Support Offshore Installation Managers in windfarm activities
- Prepare SIMOPS boards and manage ATW requests with contractors
- Engage with project team, vessel agents and SHE-Q officers to review progress
- Evaluate progress, issues and outstanding items with the project team
- Ensure notices and documentation are distributed and up-to-date
Key requirements
- Minimum of five years in a lead marine coordination role
- Experience in offshore wind
- Strong communication with stakeholders at all levels
- Solid health and safety knowledge in offshore environments
- Offshore marine or helicopter coordination experience with safety rules
- Certified VHF operator
- Knowledge of marine, aviation and port regulations
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in international/multi-disciplinary teams
