Overview
In this role you will support the Lead Architect on a major, multi-billion-pound infrastructure programme in London. You’ll focus on detailed design, technical assurance, and multidisciplinary coordination to maintain the Design Vision across engineering teams and contractors. You will act as a design guardian, guiding design development and construction while engaging with planning, procurement, and design reviews. This is an engineering-led environment offering exposure to high-profile infrastructure delivery and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist architectural and technical support across the project
- Review and validate design information from design suppliers and contractors
- Support detailed design, design development and construction activities
- Provide technical input to Planning Application packages and conditions closure
- Coordinate responses for Independent Design Review Panel reviews
- Provide technical scope input for procurement and tender evaluation
- Support multidisciplinary coordination across civil, landscape, rail systems, environment, and planning
- Review architectural detailing, standards and technical information
- Support design verification, assurance and approval processes
- Manage interfaces between delivery teams to maintain design consistency
- Identify and mitigate design risks and support project opportunities
- Work with discipline leads, area engineers, contractors and consultants
- Oversee professional services and contractor design teams in a matrix environment
Key requirements
- ARB/RIBA registered Architect
- Experience in multidisciplinary design and delivery environments
- Strong background in detailed and technical design development
- Knowledge of architectural detailing, standards and validation
- Experience reviewing design information produced by others
- Understanding of design assurance and verification processes
- Experience with design information and data control systems
- Ability to challenge and influence experienced professionals
- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines
- Desirable: experience in rail, infrastructure or transportation; aviation or major infrastructure; beneficial: site/construction experience
