This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in governance, compliance, risk and regulatory requirements who enjoys working with stakeholders to minimise risk and drive high standards across a business.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the organisation remains compliant with legal, regulatory and industry requirements, while also helping to develop robust policies, improve processes and embed best practice across the business.
The Role
As Compliance Manager, you’ll take ownership of a broad range of compliance and governance activities. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and internal teams, acting as a subject matter expert and providing practical, business-focused advice. The role combines day-to-day compliance management with the opportunity to lead projects and initiatives designed to strengthen systems, processes and overall business resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and compliance frameworks in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Work with senior stakeholders to implement compliance initiatives and promote best practice.
- Lead internal compliance audits, including areas such as Right to Work, agency labour, modern slavery, GDPR and ethical trading standards.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure successful outcomes and ongoing compliance.
- Act as a subject matter expert on compliance matters, including GDPR, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), non-conformances and related training.
- Lead activities relating to the Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) legislation and ICO guidance.
- Produce, analyse and report on compliance data, including diversity and workforce metrics.
- Support the administration of ISO standards and requirements.
- Ensure business continuity plans remain current and actions arising from audits or reviews are completed.
- Maintain robust document control processes, ensuring policies, procedures and forms are version-controlled and regularly reviewed.
- Manage agency contracts and supplier compliance records.
- Investigate and resolve agency worker compliance issues, including AWR compliance and audit findings.
- Review and update employment-related documentation in line with legislative and business changes.
- Support Company Secretarial activities, including Companies House filings and Companies Act compliance.
- Develop effective relationships with regulatory bodies, auditors, customers and external stakeholders.
- Provide compliance information to support insurance renewals, claims management and market reviews.
- Prepare compliance documentation, policies and business information to support customer tenders and business development opportunities.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced compliance professional who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Compliance Manager, Compliance Officer, Governance, Risk or similar position.
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance, data protection legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing and leading both internal and external audits.
- Good understanding of GDPR and data protection principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, practical recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels of an organisation.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within logistics, supply chain, warehousing or an operational environment would be advantageous.
