Overview
In this role you drive the design and delivery of generator systems for an advanced SMR nuclear plant, ensuring safe, resilient electrical infrastructure. You will work within cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust specifications and support verification, validation, and regulatory compliance. Your technical leadership will guide supplier oversight, testing strategies, and lifecycle plans for generator systems. The opportunity combines high-impact engineering with a mission to enable next-generation, regulated power solutions.

Responsibilities
- Translate high-level requirements into generator system specifications across architecture, design and equipment selection
- Provide technical leadership for generator systems and substantiate designs against technical and regulatory standards
- Develop verification and validation plans and test strategies to demonstrate compliance
- Support lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies, and safety case development with regulators
- Manage suppliers and contract partners, and oversee programme activities to milestones
- Coach and mentor junior engineers within the electrical engineering capability
Key requirements
- Experience across the lifecycle of generator systems in a highly regulated industry
- Strong technical expertise in generator system design, specification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance
- Understanding of resilient design principles, redundancy and diversity
- Knowledge of IEC 63046 and IEC 63332 (and related standards)
- Experience with systems engineering methodologies (MBSE) is desirable
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
