In this role you lead signalling design activities within Siemens Mobility’s Rail Infrastructure team to ensure safe, on-time delivery of signalling projects. You will supervise technical output, check compliance with standards, and mentor junior designers while shaping project plans and resource needs. The position emphasizes safety, reliability, and practical delivery in a dynamic rail environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement robust signalling solutions that meet customer specifications and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Direct preparation of technical details, signalling plans, estimates and working drawings to meet schedule and budget
- Conduct independent checking of signalling systems as required
- Maintain technical and safety standards across all design work for reliable project delivery
- Provide guidance to Design Engineers and team members on signal design within projects
- Support forecasting manpower requirements to allocate design resources efficiently
Key requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent (HND/HNC)
- IRSE Signalling Principles Designer and Signalling Design Verifier Licence
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience in design and implementation of Signalling Systems
- Engineering Competence in Scheme Plans, LAP, SSI Wiring, Fringe Designs and Checking
Desirable:
- SSI (Westlock) data & control tables design/checking
- WTS-Westlock knowledge
