Initiative-taking individual, capable of working alone and running with ongoing issues where needed. Required skills/experience work within the controls and automation side of industry with a focus of aiding engineering where applicable alongside being second level fault finding for our electricians and support on electrical maintenance where needed. this will include setting up and programming multiple level monitoring devices such as pulsars, installing and commissioning waste and clean water plant, and general instrumentation maintenance across a wide area including work on telemetry systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Calibration: Test, clean, and calibrate field instruments like flow meters, pressure sensors, and level indicators.
- Fault Finding: Troubleshoot and fix issues in electrical circuits, relay logic, and automation hardware.
- PLC & SCADA Support: Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to keep processes running smoothly.
- Installation & Commissioning: Set up new control equipment and integrate it with existing plant networks.
- Electrical maintenance and testing. Provide second level fault finding for our electricians and support on electrical maintenance when required.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow strict health and safety rules, do risk assessments, and keep accurate maintenance logs.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Qualifications: A time-served apprenticeship or an HNC/equivalent in electrical, electronic, or instrumentation engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Experience with PLCs (such as Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens), SCADA software, and reading circuit diagrams.
- Certifications: Often requires a full UK driving licence and sometimes an 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team. Participate in standby rotas for emergency callouts.
