HV Power Systems Engineer – Electricity North West
Salford or Preston | Permanent | up to £77k per annum (depending on experience)

Morson are proud to be partnering with Electricity North West (ENWL) to recruit an experienced HV Power Systems Engineer to join their Strategic Planning team. This role is pivotal to ensuring the network is fit for the future – supporting new demand and generation connections, including the integration of low carbon and renewable technologies.
As a key part of the planning centre of excellence, you\’ll work on complex and high-impact studies across the HV network, with a focus on resilience, performance, and enabling net-zero growth across the North West.
Key Responsibilities:
– Plan and develop the HV distribution network in line with licence conditions, engineering standards, and best practice
– Assess and deliver demand and generation connections, ensuring technically sound and cost-effective solutions
– Undertake post-connection acceptance studies
– Review and interpret G5/5, G99, P28, P29 studies for compliance
– Use power systems modelling tools such as IPSA and DINIS to assess the network under various scenarios
What Were Looking For:
– Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
– Excellent understanding of the UK power distribution system
– Proven experience in network planning or system studies
– In-depth knowledge of electrical network components, network operation, design standards, operational policy, and relevant Codes of Practice
– Proficiency in IPSA, DINIS or other power system analysis software
– Experience reviewing technical studies for regulatory compliance (e.g. G99, G5/5, P28, P29)
– UK-based candidates only (due to the nature of the role and compliance requirements)
