Our client Scottish Power Transmissions are currently recruiting for a CAD Designer to join their team based in Cambuslang on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Civil CAD Designer with Revit experience.
Scottish Power is delivering a major 5-year programme to upgrade and expand Scotland’s electricity transmission network, supporting the transition to clean energy and strengthening national infrastructure. As part of this investment, SP Energy Networks is growing its Design Services team and seeking a Civil, Structural / Cable CAD Designer to help produce high-quality models and drawings for transmission projects.
What You’ll Do- Produce clear, accurate 2D/3D Civil, Structural & Cable drawings for substation and transmission projects.
- Create GA layouts, RC detailing, Duct & Trench Arrangements, Drainage Layouts, and Structural Details.
- Support BIM workflows, model coordination, and drawing‑standards compliance.
- Update drawings from engineering markups and contribute to design‑change processes.
- Work closely with Civil, Structural, Cable and Electrical Engineering teams.
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of Civil/Structural design and engineering drawing principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction requirements.
- Experience producing plans, sections, elevations, schedules, and technical details.
- Good communication skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality outputs.
- HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience with Autodesk tools such as Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Vault, ACC or ProjectWise.
- Knowledge of BIM Level 2 workflows and common data environments.
- Understanding of British Standards and transmission‑related design.
- Familiarity with digital engineering processes and model coordination tools.
