Morson Edge are recruiting for a Metal Repair Operator to support critical aircraft maintenance operations on the F-35 fast jet within a highly regulated aviation environment. Working as part of a close-knit, multi-skilled team, you will carry out metalworking and corrosion remediation activities, supporting the safe and efficient maintenance of aircraft structures. This role is ideally suited to individuals with hands-on experience in structural repair and a strong understanding of approved maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out metalworking and corrosion remediation activities on aircraft structures
- Perform repairs in accordance with approved technical documentation and maintenance instructions
- Prepare metal and composite surfaces for repair activities
- Undertake drilling, honing, and reaming of aircraft structures
- Remove and install aircraft fasteners and components
- Apply adhesive bonding techniques where required
- Work in accordance with approved maintenance data and organisational procedures
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and compliance
- Support team activities within a multi-disciplined maintenance environment
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience using manual and pneumatic tooling
- Experience preparing metal and/or composite aircraft structures for repair
- Experience with drilling, honing, and reaming processes
- Experience removing and installing various types of fasteners
- Experience with adhesive bonding applications
- Ability to work to maintenance instructions and approved data sets
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Qualifications
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (Aeronautical Engineering advantageous)
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Acceptable awarding bodies include City & Guilds, IMI, Edexcel, EAL, SEMTA, ATA (or equivalent)
- Candidates with equivalent experience (e.g. military service) must be able to provide supporting evidence
Working Environment
- Based at RAF Marham
- Monday–Thursday working pattern (37 hours per week)
- Working within a multi-skilled aircraft maintenance team
- Role may involve working in a regulated and safety-critical environment
