We are looking for an experienced Equipment Engineer to join the TD Equipment Delivery team, supporting the end-to-end delivery of major equipment contracts within a safety-critical nuclear project environment. Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you will work within the Equipment Delivery Team and act as a key technical interface across engineering, programme and delivery stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring suitable experience in power station equipment design, engineering, manufacture and installation. Experience may be in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, or a combination of these disciplines, with Mechanical experience preferred.
This is an opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge of EPR design and operation, lead pragmatic technical decision-making, and contribute to delivery in a complex, fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of cross-functional technical issues which would otherwise not be resolved within the MDT, achieving a best-for-project solution with a schedule-conscious approach.
- Provide a decisive escalation route for issues which are deadlocked and a catalyst for innovative optioneering.
- Work with the programmes and the technical teams on prioritisation and emerging scope topics, maximising the efficiency and value of delivery.
- Global risk management - Understand risks and keep up to date risk tracking.
- Specific risk management - Bring issues back under control when they start to escalate, putting in place mitigation plans and working with the technical and programme teams to bring an issue back under control.
- Advocate for pragmatic decision making which respects the overall aims of the project and ensures delivery focus.
- Manage the provision of engineering services for HPC project, achieving suitable technical outcomes with a focus on value engineering and optimisation.
About You:
- Good, sensible, pragmatic engineer within the relevant disciplines (Mechanical preferred, Electrical possible but the candidate will likely need to work across disciplines).
- Ideally chartered, with relevant degree.
- Understanding of nuclear industry background, ALARP, safety case alignment.
- Knowledge of design processes, manufacturing and activities related to mechanical equipment.
- Understanding of quality requirements and practices.
- Knowledge of power station design is desirable (EPR, PWR, other nuclear power station technology).
- Understanding of HPC project structure (role of RD, Technical Directorate, Nuclear Services etc.) is beneficial.
- Adaptable, self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to speak French would be helpful.
Base location will be Aztec West - minimum 3dpw in office.
