In this role you shape engineering strategy for submarine systems, acting as System Design Authority and guiding the division’s technical direction.
You will lead engineering lifecycle activities across complex programmes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive product and technology roadmaps.

Responsibilities
- Chair technical reviews across projects within the division and act as an alternative to the Chief Engineer when required
- Define and analyse mission-related problems to identify effective engineering solutions
- Review operational concepts and identify potential solution options
- Own the design approach for equipment and systems across the division
- Assess product system specifications and support System Design Authorities with complex customer programmes
- Support Product Managers with opportunity roadmaps and own the solution/technology roadmap
- Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for development and innovation
- Review and approve architectural designs and advise on manufacture-or-buy decisions across the lifecycle
- Represent the company at exhibitions and conferences to promote the business and stay informed of technologies
- Line management and mentoring of System Design Authorities to build division capability
- Key requirements
- Systems thinker with broad operational context of customer requirements
- Experience across engineering lifecycle elements (design, modelling/analysis, requirements, test/acceptance, production or in-service support)
- Strong systems engineering background with solution definition and complex technical challenge assessment
- Experience in one or more technical areas (e. g., sonar/seismic arrays, sensor data/telemetry, real-time/decisionupport, towed arrays, weapon/countermeasure, acoustic/RF/safety, modelling/simulation, industrial automation, submarine design concepts)
