Overall Job Purpose

The Site Agent will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers' objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. They will deliver multiple ongoing projects or singular large projects, to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance. The post-holder will work closely with the commercial Department, forepersons, engineers and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner whilst customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded. To lead by example by engendering the collaborative culture throughout the team, including suppliers and customers, ensuring that everyone works towards our common vision of a vibrant delivery mechanism that delivers on promises, chosen by customers and has safety at its core. A key part of the role is to create an energetic, dynamic, and vibrant environment which looks for efficient, innovative, sustainable ways to develop projects, whilst maintaining a safe environment to work within.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Site Management
    • Ensure the commercial performance of the contract is maximised.
    • Assume overall responsibility for the successful delivery of projects.
    • Deliver the work safely and without environmental incidents.
    • Deliver the work to the specified quality without defects.
    • Ensure production and implementation of Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and waste.
    • Produce and manage the project programme and supervise the delivery of it.
    • Review 3-month programme to ensure in line with the project programme and organise resources necessary to meet the plan.
    • Understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
    • Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
    • Ensure all staff, subcontractors and visitors are properly inducted, meet the competencies required of them and hold relevant qualifications and tickets.
    • Undertake an ambassadorial role, representing the Business to customers, the public and official bodies.
    • Deliver end product to customer satisfaction.
    • Communicate with Sub Contractor Supervisors and Works Managers to ensure full understanding of upcoming works.
    • Produce good quality, accurate monthly reports for the Client and internally.
    • Chair weekly site meetings in line with Company procedures.
    • Obtain all 'as built' information ensuring that it is accurate and relevant.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
    • Comply with Company procedures and legal obligations at all times, promoting best practice.
    • Promote the Octavius safety rules and establish safe working cultures and practices and environmental compliance, stop any unsafe work conditions.
    • Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors, developing positive working relationships.
    • Oversee and ensure that all HSEQ-related documentation is kept up to date and briefed, as necessary.
    • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly inspections are carried out and all audits and reports are produced.
    • Liaise with relevant third parties and government agencies.
    • Ensure that the QA file is produced and maintained.
    • Ensure the work is delivered snag/defect free and on time.
    • Focus on the outcome of tasks.
  • Cost control
    • Populate and manage the Octavius cost plan for the project.
    • Maximise project value and maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo.
    • Ensure detailed site diaries/records are completed.
    • Endeavour to spot and highlight value engineering opportunities.
  • Managing resources
    • Deal with any actual or potential problems with resources promptly.
    • Ensure that records of resources are complete and accurate.
    • Reference areas of decision-making, where one will influence or impact.

  • Ensure all Framework KPI measures are met applicable to your level.

Experience and knowledge

  • Relevant experience in the delivery arena.
  • Experience and knowledge of construction industry - awareness of current techniques.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost and value reporting.
  • Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering.
  • Lead team of up to 10 direct reports assisting their all-round development.

  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 software or Microsoft Projects (desirable)

Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience or relevant qualification.
  • CEng MICE, or equivalent (desirable)
  • CSCS Managers card.
  • Appointed person CPCS card (desirable)
  • IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS
