In this role you will establish and lead the in-house MEP commissioning function for a forward‑thinking contractor, ensuring projects perform as designed from day one. You will shape processes, standards, and documentation while coordinating across design, installation and commissioning teams. You’ll influence building performance, client satisfaction, and delivery outcomes across a North/North West portfolio. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an in-house commissioning strategy, processes and documentation
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee commissioning for mechanical, electrical and public health systems on live projects
  • Collaborate with project managers, design engineers and site teams to integrate commissioning requirements from early stages
  • Manage commissioning programmes aligned with project timelines and client expectations
  • Conduct site inspections, witness testing and performance verification
  • Produce commissioning reports, O&M manuals and handover documentation
  • Build and mentor a growing commissioning team
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth delivery

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in MEP commissioning management within building services
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting controls, BMS and public health systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and commissioning plans
  • Excellent organisational skills with multi-project management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset and commitment to quality
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering (HNC/HND/Degree)
  • Commissioning certifications are desirable (e.g. CSA, CIBSE Commissioning)
