Overview
In this role you will lead telecoms engineering across a portfolio of rail projects, shaping safe and compliant telecoms solutions from feasibility to handback. You’ll work within an experienced design team to integrate telecoms with signalling, civils and power disciplines for major rail clients. The position offers senior technical leadership, client engagement and governance across GRIP/PACE lifecycle stages. This is a growth-focused opportunity to elevate telecoms design capability and standards within a growing rail organisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide Telecoms CRE (Design) leadership across rail projects
- Lead development, review and approval of telecoms designs through all stages
- Ensure governance and compliance with Network Rail standards
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design interfaces with signalling, E&P, civils, OLE and track
- Support bids and framework opportunities with technical input and solutions
- Manage resources, programmes and deliverables
- Mentor engineers and designers
- Conduct design reviews and uphold quality standards
- Oversee commercial/financial aspects including forecasting and change management
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Contribute to evolving telecoms design capability and standards
Key requirements
- Significant experience in railway telecoms design and delivery
- Proven ability delivering telecoms designs through GRIP/PACE lifecycle
- Experience in operational telecoms and SISS design
- Experience undertaking CRE responsibilities on rail projects
- Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and assurance processes
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and governance
- Excellent communication, leadership and client-facing skills
- Experience supporting bids, tenders or frameworks is advantageous
