Overview
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead EICA design delivery for water and wastewater projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes. Your role focuses on technical leadership, feasibility through commissioning, and mentoring engineers to foster excellence. You will engage stakeholders, translate complex requirements into practical solutions, and advance innovations that benefit customers and the environment. Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery of EICA design across water and wastewater projects
- Manage feasibility, outline, detailed design, construction support and commissioning stages
- Provide engineering assurance and leadership across electrical design activities
- Develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions aligning with client and stakeholder needs
- Review and approve calculations, specifications, drawings, and contract docs
- Collaborate with process, mechanical and civil teams for integrated solutions
- Build and maintain relationships with clients as a technical advisor
- Support tendering, cost estimating and bid submissions
- Manage resources, budgets, programmes and technical performance across multiple projects
- Mentor engineers and foster a high-performance team culture
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning and resolve complex issues
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies
- Champion safety, quality, sustainability and engineering excellence
Key requirements
- Experience delivering electrical engineering solutions in water, wastewater, utilities or process industries
- Ability to lead production, review and approval of complex electrical design deliverables
- Strong knowledge of EICA systems and their industrial applications
- Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and coordinating technical teams
- Understanding of electrical distribution, motor control centres, instrumentation and control systems
- Knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
- Ability to balance technical, commercial and operational requirements in engineering solutions
- Experience preparing cost estimates, technical proposals and tender submissions
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership desirable
