Morson is working with an established and growing architectural practice in Cardiff that is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Architect, Senior Associate Architect or Director. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious senior architect to take a leading role within a successful studio, with the level of appointment dependent on experience and aspirations.
The Role
- Provide strong architectural, operational and people leadership, overseeing projects, teams, clients and the day-to-day running of the studio.
- Lead architectural projects from concept through to completion.
- Manage project programmes, deadlines, budgets, resources, and delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
- Manage client and consultant relationships.
- Oversee design, planning, and technical delivery.
- Manage cash flow, invoicing, fees, and project financial performance.
- Provide effective people management and leadership, including mentoring, performance management and team development.
- Apply a sound understanding of employment law and HR processes.
- Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures and responsibilities are maintained across projects and the studio.
- Support recruitment, resource planning, and the development of the team.
- Contribute to bids, tenders, and business development.
- Identify and develop new client and project opportunities.
- Support the overall growth and strategic direction of the Cardiff studio.
At Director level, there will be greater emphasis on business development, winning new work, senior client relationships, commercial performance, people leadership and the strategic management of the studio.
About You
- ARB registration and a recognised UK architectural qualification.
- Significant post-qualification experience within UK architectural practice.
- A strong track record of project management and successful project delivery.
- Experience managing deadlines, programmes, budgets, and project resources.
- Strong knowledge of cash flow, invoicing, and commercial/project financial management.
- Experience in people management, leadership, and team development.
- A good working knowledge of employment law and HR responsibilities.
- Understanding and experience of health and safety management.
- Excellent design, technical, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Experience in business development and winning work, particularly at Senior Associate/Director level.
- A proactive, commercially aware, and collaborative approach.
- A range of sector experience and network to bring with you to the business.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
