We are seeking an experienced and analytical Business Unit Controller (Management Accountant) to join our finance team. This role supports key financial planning and analysis functions across business units, with a focus on performance tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk mitigation. You will play a pivotal role in both recurring and project-based finance initiatives, contributing to strategic decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes across business units in alignment with company financial goals.
- Collaborate with operational managers to define and validate improvement projects, ensuring financial robustness (sizing, business case, ROI).
- Produce and manage timely, accurate financial reporting to both local and central teams, highlighting variances and potential risks.
- Provide critical financial insight and challenge to operational performance, recommending and supporting mitigation strategies.
- Assess business cases for investments and operational initiatives, applying rigorous financial evaluation and assumptions testing.
- Support financial control activities across various categories, including Recurring Costs, Inventory, Non-Recurring Costs, and Capex (Jigs & Tools, where required).
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA preferred) with minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in a manufacturing or commercial environment.
- Proficient in SAP or similar financial reporting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional, multi-national teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and a continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable:
- Prior experience in a highly regulated or engineering-led environment (e.g., aerospace, defence).
- Knowledge of lean financial processes or involvement in finance transformation projects.
