We are seeking an experienced and driven HSE Manager to join a major project at Hinkley Point C, supporting one of the most complex and highly regulated environments in the UK. This is an urgent, high-priority appointment, ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, safety-critical industries and can step in quickly to lead, influence, and deliver.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of the Health, Safety & Environmental function on-site, leading a team of 5–6 HSE professionals while working closely with operational leadership and client stakeholders. This is a visible, influential role where you’ll split your time between site presence and office-based reporting—ensuring both compliance and cultural excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all HSE activities across site operations
- Provide expert guidance to operational teams, contractors, and stakeholders
- Drive a proactive safety culture and behavioural improvement initiatives
- Manage and close out incidents (both positive and negative) effectively
- Maintain and enhance HSE reporting systems (weekly/monthly metrics, hours worked, incident tracking)
- Conduct audits, inspections, and investigations in line with regulatory and company standards
- Develop and implement HSE strategies aligned with project and client KPIs
- Support radiological safety and compliance, including radiation monitoring/testing awareness
- Ensure full compliance with legal obligations and evolving HSE regulations
- Deliver training, briefings, and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Build strong relationships with client HSE teams and project partners
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in nuclear environments (decommissioning or new build—not operational plants)
- Strong understanding of radiological safety / radiation testing
- Experience in other highly regulated industries (e.g. petrochemical) also considered
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Strong reporting and data management skills (incident tracking, performance metrics)
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
Working Patterns & Overtime
We offer flexible working arrangements to suit project demands:
- Option 1: 10 Days On / 4 Days Off (10-hour shifts) Includes weekend working with enhanced overtime rates:
- First 39 hours: standard rate
- Saturday: first 4 hours at 1.5x, thereafter 2x
- Sunday: all hours at 2x
- Option 2: Monday–Friday (5 Days On / 2 Off) 39-hour week: Mon–Thurs: 08:00–16:15 Fri: 08:00–15:00 Flexibility required based on project needs Overtime rates as above
