Overview
As Bid Manager, you will own the full bid lifecycle for a leading architectural practice in Manchester, shaping opportunities from initial interest to final submission.
You will craft persuasive, high-quality responses and visually engaging presentations, leveraging In Design and the Adobe suite.
You will advance the use of AI in bid writing, developing efficient processes and collaborating with Directors, design teams and external partners.
This is a growth-focused role with impact on strategy, win rates and the firm’s reputation in a busy pipeline of framework, private and international bids.
Responsibilities
- Own the full bid lifecycle from EOI/PQQ to ITT and final submission.
- Develop bid plans, win themes and submission strategies.
- Review tender docs to identify requirements and evaluation criteria.
- Coordinate input from Directors, Architects, design teams and external partners.
- Write, edit and refine bid responses.
- Tailor submissions to individual clients and opportunities.
- Maintain case studies, CVs and practice information.
- Lead production and graphic presentation of bid documents.
- Use In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator to produce polished submissions.
- Prepare teams for client interviews and presentations with rehearsals and feedback.
- Contribute to bid/no-bid decisions and pipeline development.
- Maintain bid libraries, templates and knowledge resources.
- Track bid outcomes and extract lessons learned.
- Interrogate and use AI to improve bid responses and create an efficient AI-supported bid process.
- Collaborate with Marketing and wider team to support work winning.
- Key requirements
- Strong bid management experience within architecture, construction, consultancy or built environment.
- Experience in a consultancy environment and understanding of consultant vs contractor bids.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Proven end-to-end bid management experience.
- Solid knowledge of public and private sector procurement and tender processes.
- Strong graphic presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Adobe In Design; experience with Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of work-winning and business development.
- Ability to work autonomously while coordinating multiple contributors.
- Understanding of architectural services and design processes.
- Interest in using AI to develop bid-writing responses and improve processes.
