Morson Edge is looking for an experienced Assembly Fitter to join a leading aerospace manufacturer within the Sheet Metal Department in Burnley.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-performing aerospace manufacturing environment, assembling and fitting aircraft nacelle structures and components for world-class aerospace programmes.

You'll play a vital role in delivering precision-engineered assemblies that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, enjoys working with precision, and thrives in a hands-on engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit sheet metal and nacelle components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Carry out drilling, countersinking, riveting, fastening, and torque tightening to aerospace design standards.
  • Safely handle, position, and secure components onto tooling and workstations.
  • Perform self-inspection to ensure all work meets quality and engineering requirements.
  • Complete batch cards, production documentation, and traceability records accurately.
  • Identify and report non-conformances during assembly operations.
  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, and materials are correctly maintained and suitable for use.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with 5S principles.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and Quality Management procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.

Requirements

  • Time-served Aerospace or Engineering apprenticeship (City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in aircraft fitting, sheet metal assembly, and aerospace fastening techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and aerospace assembly processes.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Good understanding of aerospace quality and HSE standards.
  • Self-inspection approval is desirable but not essential.
