Morson are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading aerospace and defence composites organisation based in North Yorkshire. This is a hands-on, shop floor–focused role where you will act as the bridge between engineering and production. You will support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure efficient, cost-effective production processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing (NPI), ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet production requirements.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth handover of parts into manufacture.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality using lean methodologies.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCCA) and implement corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including job cards and process plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to select appropriate materials, tooling, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Support first-off builds and resolve issues during initial production phases.
  • Work with Production Management to ensure accurate estimation of production time and materials.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support resolution of production issues.

Requirements

  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, or similar role.
  • Background in a complex manufacturing environment (aerospace, defence, automotive or similar).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop floor operations.
  • Experience of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to carry out root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Qualifications

  • HNC / ONC in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Apprenticeship or relevant industry experience.
