Electrical Building Services Engineer **Salary:** £32,000-£45,000 **Employment type:** Permanent **Sector:** Infrastructure and Ministry of Justice buildings We are recruiting an Electrical Building Services Engineer for a leading UK infrastructure consultancy.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building-services solutions across infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects, including prisons and other secure operational facilities.
Applications are welcomed from developing engineers at Assistant level as well as established Building Services Engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Support projects from survey and concept design through detailed design, construction and handover.
- Undertake site surveys, inspections and assessments of existing electrical installations.
- Develop practical solutions for refurbishment, upgrade and new-build projects.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, architectural and structural disciplines.
- Use electrical design, modelling and calculation software.
- Support technical reviews and respond to construction-stage queries.
- Identify design hazards and contribute to CDM risk-management processes.
- Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, British Standards and industry guidance.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and operational stakeholders.
- Manage assigned work against agreed quality, budget and programme requirements. ## About you You will have:
- A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience designing electrical building-services systems.
- Knowledge of power distribution, lighting and associated building infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Auto CAD, Revit and BIM methodologies.
- An understanding of Building Regulations, relevant British Standards and CDM requirements.
- Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary Ministry of Justice security clearance.
