Morson Edge are currently supporting a leading employee-owned placemaking consultancy to recruit experienced Town Planners at Senior, Principal and Associate level across their Bristol and Cardiff studios. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, design-led consultancy that integrates planning, urban design and landscape architecture to deliver high-quality development outcomes across the UK. The practice works across a strong pipeline of residential, regeneration, education, healthcare, commercial, energy and mixed-use projects, supporting both public and private sector clients.
The Opportunity
- Lead and manage a wide range of planning applications, appeals and site appraisals
- Provide strategic planning advice across multiple sectors and project types
- Manage and develop strong client relationships in a consultancy environment
- Work closely with urban design and landscape colleagues to deliver integrated, place-based solutions
- Support and mentor junior team members as part of a collaborative planning function

Role Overview
You will take a leading role in delivering planning projects from early feasibility through to determination, working across both strategic and detailed planning stages. The role is client-facing and will involve coordination of multidisciplinary inputs, stakeholder engagement, and contribution to wider project strategy within a commercially driven consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning applications, appeals and site promotion work
- Prepare high-quality planning reports, statements and assessments
- Manage client relationships and coordinate internal and external project teams
- Support stakeholder engagement, consultations and planning committees
- Collaborate with design disciplines to ensure integrated development outcomes
- Mentor and support junior planners within the team
- Contribute to business development and work-winning activity
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
- Proven consultancy or local authority experience managing planning projects
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
