As part of continued growth, our aerospace client based in Wolverhampton is currently recruiting an NDT Inspector to operate within the High Lift department on a night shift. The primary function of the role will be Penetrant Testing and/or Radiographic Testing of welded aerospace components.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Perform NDT Inspection of machined components: 1 position will be tasked with Penetrant Testing/magnetic particle. 1 position Radiographic Testing.
  • Identify and report any issues related to product safety, and support any investigations related to product safety.
  • Create detailed part specific technique sheets.
  • Perform daily system process tests and equipment checks as specified in the applicable department procedures.
  • Declare non-conformances when detected.
  • Assistance in quality control systems and investigations (non-conformance reviews).
  • Support continuous improvement deployment through active participation on Lean Events, Workshops and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the local EH&S procedures.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the radiation safety procedures.

The successful candidate will be qualified and certified to EN4179 Level 2 in Penetrant Testing and Radiographic Testing, with the primary role of performing NDT on welds. Previous experience in Penetrant Testing and Radiographic Testing is preferable - evidence of previous training and experience should be provided. The candidate will also be capable of, and prepared to provide practical on-the-job training of trainees and apprentices, covering the following topics:

  • Health & Safety (including Radiation Safety).
  • Process Control Checks.
  • NDT Process.
  • Documentation.
  • Operator Self Inspection (OSI) responsibilities.

Basic Skills:

  • Visual Acuity and Colour Perception.
  • Motivated and Confident.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel.

Please note this role is inside IR35.
