Technical Director of Architecture to join their Nuclear sector team.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a fully qualified Architect with experience delivering complex projects within the
Nuclear sector or another highly regulated environment .
The successful candidate will provide technical and design leadership across multidisciplinary projects, while supporting client engagement, business development and the continued growth of the team.
The Opportunity
As Technical Director, you will lead the delivery of complex multidisciplinary architectural projects across the Nuclear sector, working across both civil and defence programmes.
You will provide technical leadership from early design stages through to project delivery, ensuring high standards of design quality, coordination, safety and compliance within a highly regulated environment.
The role will also involve leading and mentoring architectural teams, developing client relationships and supporting bids and strategic growth across the sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership
- Lead and coordinate architectural delivery across complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Drive innovative and effective design solutions aligned with client requirements.
- Provide expert architectural input during early design stages and throughout project lifecycles.
- Embed Safety in Design principles across project delivery.
- Oversee materials, building systems and the production of specifications.
- Ensure design solutions meet required technical, quality and regulatory standards.
- Team & Technical Management
- Lead and mentor architectural teams within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ensure quality, accuracy and coordination of design documentation.
- Promote a collaborative team culture and support professional development.
- Champion digital technologies and modern design workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and support through complex project challenges.
- Project & Operational Oversight
- Manage project programmes, resources and budgets.
- Forecast and allocate resources effectively.
- Support the delivery of projects against demanding timescales and requirements.
- Contribute to technical excellence, knowledge sharing and CPD initiatives.
- Identify and manage project risks and technical issues.
- Client & Commercial
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison with contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Support bid preparation and business development activities.
- Contribute to industry events, thought leadership and sector development.
- Support commercial performance and delivery to budget.
- Provide NEC contract administration support where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified and
ARB registered Architect .
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Architecture.
- Demonstrable experience leading architectural delivery within the
Nuclear sector , civil or defence, or another highly regulated industry.
- Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects within a multidisciplinary consultancy.
- Strong design management and technical leadership experience.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Confident decision-maker with a strong understanding of project lifecycles and risk management.
- Proven ability to lead teams through complex technical challenges.
- Strong client management and relationship-building skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering projects in accordance with Nuclear Safety Case requirements.
- Experience working across different project delivery models, including Design & Build.
- Experience working closely with contractors and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Strong commercial and business development awareness.
