Job: Welding / NDT Inspection Engineer (Field Engineer)
Status: Contract until Dec 2026 with good extension possibility – Good Daily Rate - Inside IR35 Start: September 2026 onwards (reasonable notice would be acceptable) Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player in the Energy Sector who have a current contract requirement for an experienced Welding / NDT Inspection Engineer (Field Engineer) to join their established site-based team in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This is a (renewable) contract position - inside IR35.
Overview
- As a Field Engineer focused on welding / NDT Inspection, you will oversee critical quality assurance tasks, ensuring construction activities align with contractual and safety requirements.
- You will Identify and mitigate potential quality issues, supporting on-time project delivery.
- Principal accountabilities
- Submit and document non-conformance reports as needed.
- Review and monitor Quality Control Plans and Inspection Records.
- Evaluate contractor performance and adherence to standards.
- Contribute to health, safety, and environmental objectives across site operations.
- Ensure documentation and reporting align with regulatory and quality requirements.
- Required Skills and Qualifications
- Typically HNC qualified in mechanical/welding discipline or equivalent work history experience
- Welding Inspector qualification (CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent as a minimum).
- Experience in construction involving installation of plant (inc. pressure systems) and structural steel.
- Conversant with British/European standards and design codes including RCC-M and BS EN.
- Proven QA/QC experience and ability to document findings concisely and accurately.
- Strong organisational, delegation, and communication skills.
