We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Hydraulics Engineer. This is a hybrid role and will be based in the Design Office in Manchester with the option for remote working. Occasional visits to other offices and site are expected. The role has a negotiable hourly rate and can be outside IR35.
EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
- Experience in hydraulics, surge analysis and design for water and wastewater transmission, treatment and collection/distribution systems from feasibility through to detailed design, construction and commissioning support.
- Be assertive, collaborative and curious, paying attention to relevant detail and be able to apply critical thinking to problem solving.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- The successful candidate should hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional chartered institute.
- Have UK project experience with a working knowledge of current UK regulations and design codes for H&S, environmental and engineering aspects.
- Experience in thermofluids, network flows and hydraulic modelling.
- Experience with using HADES for steady state hydraulics.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (in Windows 10/11, particularly Excel & Word).
- Some understanding of CFD, physical modelling and other relevant technical disciplines such as Civil and MEICA.
- Strong communication skills including delivering presentations to both internal and external senior business leaders and clients.
- Hold a full UK driving license and be flexible with an innovative outlook/approach.
- Safety focused, be able to assess and articulate risks so ensuring safety by design.
- CSCS card holder.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Working within our water sector team, providing specialist hydraulic support on our water projects including thermofluids, network flows and hydraulic modelling.
- Independently produce and manage production of engineering deliverables such as calculations, drawings, specifications and reports for civils infrastructure with a strong focus on constructability.
- Support the designs, assessment, optimisation and analysis for water and wastewater processes, including analysis techniques to be used within computational fluid dynamics analysis for water/wastewater processes.
- Responsible for modelling and analysis outputs, providing effective design solutions looking at short, medium and longer-term impacts.
- Interfacing closely with other disciplines and construction operations.
- Delivering to budget and ensuring changes are compensated for.
- Challenging and delivering value engineering solutions.
- Communicating confidently and authoritatively with clients.
