Are you a Software Engineer looking for an interesting job opportunity? Our client TKMS ATLAS UK develop, supply and support cutting-edge maritime technology for customers worldwide. They are seeking a Software Engineer with skills in Java to work on the development of marine-based systems, specifically around aspects of User Interface. This job will be based out of their Headquarters in Dorset.
Knowledge, skills and qualities
- Proven ability to support software delivery
- Knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering processes and best practices
- Experience of software engineering processes and tools
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, across the whole engineering lifecycle, from inception to support
- Comfortable engaging with the user community, internal and external stakeholders in a formal setting
- Ability to work within hardware, interface and solution constraints
- Has a safety-first approach to security and development
- Dedicated to delivery of quality solutions
- Comfortable supporting junior members of the team in their development, enhancing their impact
Primary Software Skills:
- Java application development
- UML design (Enterprise Architect experience is preferred, but not critical)
- UI prototyping
- UX/human factors design
- UI development (JavaFX)
Other Desirable Software Skills:
- Knowledge of design principles and heuristics
- Use of Java build systems (Maven)
- Communication interface design, control and development
- Git version control
- Use of Atlassian Toolset (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Interfacing with databases and service/subscriber architectures
- Understanding and effective utilisation of DevOps tools such as SonarQube, Jenkins and Artifactory
Key Tasks may include:
- Software design, delivery of code and providing support to independent testers
- Report progress to managers
- Effectively manage own time and align this with team priorities
