The Senior Engineer - Electrical will undertake the following responsibilities to support the Design and Engineering department:
- Manage an engineering design team in the production of E&P Lineside Electrical Feasibility, Scheme and Detailed Design reports, layouts, schematics, and calculations (including, 230V and 400V Supplies, Domestic Power Supplies, UPS Systems, Battery Systems and Earthing and Bonding) within multidisciplinary rail projects.
- Undertake the role of E&P CRE for Design and Construction.
- Able to solve engineering problems effectively and challenge the remit, thus enabling the development of robust engineering solutions in order to provide our clients with the best engineering solution and thus offering them excellent value for money on all projects involving E&P.
- Able to support the Engineering department in leading and managing a team of engineers for the production of detailed requirements for submission in reference system design documentation working closely and providing integrated documents with other disciplines.
- Apply BS7671 and other railway standards to electrical power project works and accountability for Technical Assurance within the discipline and all Electrical Engineering activities on the Network Rail infrastructure including those undertaken by sub-contractors.
- Undertake the review of all electrical designs and of electrical bills of materials for technical designs prior to submission to the client and authorisation to purchase equipment and parts for installation of designs.
- Engage with sub-contractors for installation works providing clear scope of works.
- Review site build information including redlined drawings and test certification to ensure installations are undertaken as per design and standards, submission of hand back information to clients as construction CRE for E&P.
- Undertake and lead electrical site surveys/site visits in a railway environment across the UK and reporting on asset condition, providing design proposals based on site information and supporting the construction teams if required.
- Interface with other discipline leads, construction teams and clients directly to ensure project delivery is undertaken to the required standards and timescales, this will include attending regular project update meetings, kick-off meetings with our clients and presenting at IDC and IDR meetings.
