Location: UK-wide (Flexible – offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and others)

About the Role

Morson Edge is partnering with a leading international design consultancy delivering on the National Highways Scheme Development Framework on street lighting. We are seeking an experienced Highways Lighting Design Engineer to join a high-profile, long-term programme shaping the future of the UK's road infrastructure. The successful Highways Lighting Design Engineer will have experience of working on multiple street lighting projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical reports, feasibility studies, designs, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Conduct daytime and night-time site surveys of street lighting.
  • Support Environmental Impact Assessments, Economic Assessments, and Business Case development.
  • Collaborate with clients, electricity suppliers, contractors, professional bodies, sub-consultants, and multidisciplinary design teams.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience designing to British lighting/electrical standards (BS 5489, BS EN 13201, BS 7671).
  • Strong understanding of trunk and local road lighting requirements.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., Lighting Reality, Dialux) and electrical design calculation tools (e.g., Trimble, Castline).
