Morson are working with the UK's leading defence manufacturer who are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team at the Glascoed site.
Typical duties:
- Review Shop Floor records (e.g. ‘SMDCP' documents), ‘First Off' items for Quality Dept. approval, technical specifications, drawings, and endorse Certificates of Conformity as an approved signatory.
- Perform Internal Audits, support External Audits, and support the development of audit responses and robust corrective actions which prevent identified problems from ever happening again.
- Monitor and analyse reject, rework, and RFT data, and present information to management.
- Monitor and support non-conformance / quality issue management (‘CAR', ‘Q1', ‘Q2', ‘Q3', etc.)
- Drive and support targeted CI (Continuous Improvement) activities, focussing on (A) Reduced Rejects and Costs (B) Improved operational workflows, throughput, and efficiency.
- Energise others to engage in improvement activities, and support others in identifying and implementing their own improvements.
- Support Process Readiness Review (PRR), performing Quality Dept. reviews of process readiness, and supporting the optimisation of the PRR process across the site.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve the QMS (Quality Management System).
- Continually improve your own understanding of lean manufacturing methods, and core tools (including but not limited to: VSM, Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Six Sigma, TOC, MS Excel, Minitab…) and also encourage and assist in continually improving the knowledge of others across Land UK.
Knowledge:
- Excellent numeracy and mechanical comprehension.
- ISO 9001 Internal auditor certification.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably of a similarly highly controlled nature (aerospace, automotive, nuclear, medical devices, etc.).
Skills:
- Ability to produce clear and concise written/visual instructions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Excellent numeracy and mechanical comprehension is essential.
- Awareness of company products and safety critical aspects.
- Ability to effectively co-ordinate data collection wherever necessary to inform business decisions.
- Ability to perform detailed data analysis and identify trends in data.
- Knowledge and understanding of how to comprehensively contain quality issues.
- Ability to lead and support root cause analysis and corrective action identification.
- Ability to interrogate technical drawings and specifications.
Qualifications:
- Qualification(s) in an engineering discipline (Science or Engineering degree, HNC, HND) or time served in an Engineering discipline with substantial experience in the skill sets listed above.
