Morson Edge are working with a leading independent landscape architecture and planning consultancy to recruit an Experienced Landscape Planner to join their growing team based in either Manchester or Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Chartered Landscape Planner to take on a key role within an established landscape planning team, working across a diverse portfolio of nationally significant projects. The successful candidate will play an integral part in delivering complex planning and environmental assessments while helping to shape the continued growth of the landscape planning discipline.
Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to projects spanning energy, infrastructure, residential, public sector and environmentally sensitive landscapes, with excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development.
The Opportunity
This role is suited to an experienced Landscape Planner who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building client relationships and mentoring junior colleagues. You will be involved in all aspects of landscape planning, delivering high-quality technical assessments and planning advice while working closely with clients, planning authorities and multidisciplinary design teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver landscape planning projects across a range of sectors
- Prepare Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
- Produce Landscape Character Assessments, Townscape Assessments and Landscape Capacity & Sensitivity Studies
- Develop mitigation and landscape enhancement strategies
- Provide planning and environmental advice throughout the project lifecycle
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and support junior members of the team
- Work collaboratively with landscape architects, planners and environmental specialists
- Contribute to business development and continued team growth
Essential Skills & Experience
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)
- Minimum of 5 years' professional experience within landscape planning (10+ years desirable)
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system
- Proven experience producing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
- Excellent technical report writing and analytical skills
- Experience managing projects and working directly with clients
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on major infrastructure or energy projects
- Team leadership or mentoring experience
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) experience
- Experience working across both urban and rural developments
