This is a senior technical finance role for a qualified accountant with deep expertise in IFRS, technical accounting research, and statutory reporting. You will play a critical role in leading a specialist technical accounting team, providing high-quality IFRS advice across a multi-entity group, and ensuring statutory financial statements are accurate, compliant, and audit ready. The role combines hands-on technical judgement with leadership, stakeholder influence, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Accounting & IFRS Advisory
- Lead technical accounting research and interpretation of complex IFRS requirements
- Provide clear, well-documented technical advice and accounting papers to support key business decisions
- Act as a subject-matter expert on IFRS, advising finance teams on complex transactions and judgement areas
- Statutory Reporting & Audit
- Oversee the preparation and review of multiple statutory accounts, including IFRS consolidated and FRS 101 financial statements
- Manage relationships with external auditors and lead audit planning, delivery, and issue resolution
- Ensure accounting treatments are robust, consistent, and well-supported under internal and external scrutiny
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Manage and develop a high-performing Technical Accounting and Statutory Reporting team
- Partner with senior finance stakeholders across the business, influencing and challenging where appropriate
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, high-quality financial reporting
- Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Drive improvements to accounting policies, financial reporting processes, and controls
- Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and ad hoc technical projects
- Monitor IFRS developments and regulatory change, ensuring timely and effective implementation
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong, hands-on experience in technical accounting, with a proven ability to research, interpret, and apply IFRS
- Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts under IFRS
- Confident producing technical accounting papers and advising senior stakeholders and auditors
- Strong analytical skills with sound professional judgement
- Experience leading and developing finance professionals
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex accounting issues into clear, practical advice
