We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a site-based team at Porton Down.
Role Details
- Position: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Location: Onsite - Porton Down
- Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Hours: 08:00 - 16:30 (8 hours per day)
- Contract Length: Initially until the end of June, with a strong expectation of extension through to 31 December 2026
- Rate: £30-£38 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive building services maintenance across the site, with a strong focus on:
- Plumbing maintenance and repairs
- Toilet and tap repairs
- Reactive maintenance including unblocking toilets
- General mechanical building services support
Additional experience in the following areas would be highly desirable:
- AHU (Air Handling Unit) maintenance
- Pipework repairs
- Steam systems maintenance
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' mechanical maintenance experience
- Strong background in building services maintenance
- Comfortable carrying out reactive plumbing works
- Reliable and able to work consistently onsite
- Clear DBS preferred due to site clearance requirements
- Candidates able to commit long-term are highly desirable, as onsite training will be provided and continuity is beneficial
