Morson are recruiting for a Calibration Engineer on behalf of our aerospace client Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-leading aerospace manufacturer, supporting the Metrology & Calibration function within a highly regulated aerospace environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing calibration activities across the business, ensuring all measuring equipment remains compliant, traceable, and fit for purpose in line with customer, regulatory, and quality management system requirements. The role would suit an experienced Calibration Engineer, Metrology Engineer, or Quality Engineer with a strong understanding of measurement systems, calibration processes, and quality standards within a manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinating and executing metrology and calibration activities across the site.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and customer requirements to determine calibration needs.
- Ensuring all measuring equipment remains calibrated, traceable, and suitable for operational use.
- Maintaining and administering the calibration management database, ensuring records remain accurate and up to date.
- Defining calibration intervals, measurement requirements, and traceability standards for equipment.
- Investigating out-of-tolerance calibration results and assessing any potential product impact.
- Supporting compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Participating in internal and external audits relating to calibration and measurement systems.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve calibration efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Working closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure calibration requirements are met.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualification in Engineering, Metrology, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline.
- Experience in calibration, metrology, or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of measurement principles, calibration methods, and uncertainty concepts.
- Experience using calibration management software or database systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality procedures.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- Aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 10012, or ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Understanding of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and statistical techniques.
- Internal auditing experience or relevant qualification.
