An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Principal Planner
to join a dynamic Planning & Design team. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of major development schemes across London, helping to unlock opportunities for housing, employment and regeneration. Acting as a planning lead on strategic projects, you will work closely with development managers, consultants, design teams and public sector stakeholders to guide projects through the planning process and influence policy that supports successful delivery. Key Responsibilities
Lead planning workstreams on major development and regeneration projects. Support the identification and delivery of opportunities for new homes, employment space and placemaking initiatives. Prepare planning appraisals and provide strategic planning advice on development opportunities. Work collaboratively with development managers, architects, engineers, transport planners and environmental specialists. Build effective relationships with local authorities, government bodies and key stakeholders. Prepare responses to planning applications, emerging planning policy and consultation documents. Negotiate planning matters and secure stakeholder support for development proposals. Represent the organisation at senior-level meetings, stakeholder forums and public consultation events. Influence local, regional and national planning policy to support development objectives. Manage external consultants and provide guidance to junior team members. About You
You will be an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of the development process and a track record of delivering complex projects. Essential requirements include: Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline. MRTPI qualification or working towards chartership. Significant experience preparing and managing planning applications for major developments. Experience working on large-scale regeneration or development schemes from a developer, landowner or consultancy perspective. Strong understanding of planning legislation, policy and development funding mechanisms. Experience engaging with local authorities and a wide range of stakeholders. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
